Having a Urethral Stricture Removed..I'll be having a stricture removed from my urethra next week. The surgeon will use a laser to remove it and then I'll have to have a catheter for 5-10 days to keep it dilated while healing.
The stricture is causing a weak urine stream and I'm not emptying my bladder enough - causing me to have to urinate frequently. Has anyone had this done before? I'd like to know if it worked and if the stricture came back. Any info on how painful this was after the surgery would be useful as well. Thank you
Re: Having a Urethral Stricture Removed..Anyone? Any info would help - there must be someone here that has had this surgery as it seems to be quite common. I'm simply concerned that it will not solve the problem and possibly cause even more problems.
Re: Having a Urethral Stricture Removed..I had this done about 10 years ago (with a knife, not a laser). I'm on this forum, unfortunately, because it's coming back.
It's not too painful, just awkward. Especially if your doctor instructs you to dilate with a catheter regularly. There's some sensitivity and blood when urinating (at first), but it quickly goes away. Good luck. You will be so happy with the difference.
