Unresolved UTI in Infant

Post a new topicby valley d on Tue Jul 15, 2008 12:18 pm

I have a 7 month old who was first diagnosed with a UTI in Jan this year and he was placed on antibiotics for 2 weeks (cefelexin). The initial urine sample was done by catheter. He was off the antibiotics for 3 weeks when the infection returned and this time was placed on Bactrim. This also relieved his symptoms but the infection remained. We were refered to a Urologist in April but his tests were inconclusive (no issues with the kidneys...so told it was not reflux) and he was removed from his current perscription for Amox 2 weeks ago. It appears that the symptoms are intensifying and he is increasingly irritable. Our appointment with a pediatric urologist is not until the end of May. Should I be concerned with the lack of treatment and the lack of results or am I being a worrisome first time Mom?
