Any Help???

Post a new topicby Bundroo on Mon Nov 12, 2007 3:48 pm

I had my first UTI last year. In May of this year, I had pain whether or not I had to urinate (no blood though). I was given Pyridium and it went away. Now, its back and the pill isn't working. I have been drinking cranberry juice and as much water as I can but nothing is helping. Does anyone know of anything I can do or will I need another checkup?

I definitely think you should get more antibiotics but for the pain/frequency there's OTC medicine that has helped me. Azostandard extra strength was the best for me but there's Cystex and Uristat that help as well.
Hope this helps!

Just get a urine culture to double check :)

Uristat and urinary pain relievers don't fix the problem, they just take away the pain. Go see your doctor and get checked for an infection. Sometimes UTI's will go away on their own but most of the time not.

So I had my doctor's appt last week. Of course, their lab results came out negative. She did find a positive culture for Strep which shouldn't be there in the first place. I am on antibiotics but it doesn't seem to help with the pain. When the pyridium wears off, the pain comes back. Will this be like this for the rest of my life????

I finished my antibiotics a couple weeks back. I take the pyridium periodically especially when the pain is there. For now, the pain has settled and I am doing ok but at times, the pain comes back.

OK, this may come as a shock since it's not what you'll normally be told...

Don't drink Cranberry since it make the urine more acidic, which is a perfect environment for 95% of UTI causing bacteria to multiply. You should get something like Waterfall D-Mannose, which the bacteria latches onto, and litterally pee out the problem causing bacteria. Also, again against what you've probably been told, if you do get the D-Mannose, don't drink unless you're thirsty as this will over dilute your urine and actually hinder the bacteria removal process.

Feel free to PM or eMail me about this if you think you'd like any more support about it. I've been free from UTIs for some time now, but it didn't happen until I started to look at actual research into what really helps to get rid of UTIs.

Lots of love,

Chiyaki.

Wow, that's a surprise. I have not been drinking cranberry juice for some time now. About the pain, it still comes and goes as usual (not as much as before though). Thank you so much for the heads up. Do give me your email as I would like to know more about it.
