Recently diagnosed with low testosterone.

Post a new topicby tomnt on Thu Aug 09, 2007 2:57 pm

I had it checked by my doctor about 4 months ago. The level was 180. After four months of injections we had it checked again this week and it is 162. I am concerned that it is lower even after the injections. The doc bump the dose up from 1 cc to 1.5 cc. I haven't seen a specialist yet but am considering it. At 53 years old I aint ready for the pasture if you know what I mean. My question is..should I try to get the level up to a normal range and keep it there? Any input on this is appreciated...I'm glad to have found this forum!

If a prolactin hasn't been checked I would do so, also you might want to have an endocrinologist see you.

Injections are no good. Find a doctor who will prescribe a compounded cream, that you apply daily. Compounded is better than Androgel and Testim because it can be matched to your body's needs more precisely. You should get your levels up to the levels they were at age 35 or so. I'm not a doctor, but that's what I have found works for me. I am 50, and in better shape than when I was 20, so that's good enough for me. By the way, no problem with mood swings, either. By the way, most doctors are doing what I said above, so you need to look for a progressive thinking doc.
