Many thought I was some sort of salesman but I am in the architectural drafting trade actually. Bad idea right now.
I went to Oak Park outside Chicago for 10th treatment December 29th 2009, Dr. Hauser says most people respond in only 4 treatments but I had more trauma. He said this last time that I have the chance to get back to normal. He tightened all the ligaments of my foot with shots of sodium morhuate, stronger than the glucose shots they start you off with to irrate ligament into getting collagen to thicken and contract it. This has to be my ace in the hole, I am a sensitive guy who gets faint at the thought of surgery, I admit it. I can bench 245 but don't like myself cut open, hope that does not offend the stoics. I am on here because I am scared to see the results unfold week for week to see if the cure will be permanent. I wanted to reply sincerely to those who are seeking another way and to get emotional support as well while I wait. I do feel better, almost afraid to latch onto hope that may somehow let me down. I did get months of relief previously but kept running and bringing it back, maybe should of let it be for awhile.

Tommorrow Jan. 19th will be 3 weeks after the prolotherapy treatment. They had given me a very strong dose, so I have been in pain due to the INDUCED inflammation which thickens and shortens ligament structure. Last 3 nights my walks have gone up to 3 miles with no pain, nothing to regret afterwards. I keep forgetting to wear my "yoga toe stretchers" at night to give nerve more room to heal. I take a vitamin complex made to help collagen repair too. I am definitely improving every week. I hold myself back from jogging so I don't stretch or tear new ligament material apart. I feel I must continue to restrain myself from step aerobics, step climber and jogging until the new collagen works its way in as new tissue. I am convinced that prolotherapy is the best cure on earth for MN as I had a severe case from trauma to the foot. My fear of this not working is dissapating and is being replaced by hope. Wish I could find a community of people who did this to encourage me onward........
Re: Alternative approachFOLLOW UP #2:
In 2 days it will be 4 weeks from last month's very strong treatment in Oak Park, Ill. I slowly feel the sodium morhuate solution be taken away and new thicker tissue replacing the many areas injected. Had I not had the flu during xmas my healing would be further along. Prolotherapy needs a strong immune response, I have also been a bit depressed and that slows it down. However, I walk the treadmill or sidewalks every day 2 to 3 miles. Things are definitely not getting worse with walking. The nerve NO LONGER POPS UNDER THE LIGAMENT, everything is nice and tight by the toes now. Having been given maximum shots and dosage to cause inflammation, the thing is to try to remember that this is mostly simulated injury to cause inflammation which will heal. Too much I read my pain as the accident re-happening and not a positive thing, but it is positive alright. This forum seems to have slowed down in people supporting one another. I wish everyone well on their path. This next week I am going to let my walk slowly turn in short distance jogs to see what happens. I still hate the first step on the floor in the mornings as all is puffy on the foot pad but it loosens up soon enough. I appreciate your prayers and support as I may be one of the first prolotherapy recipients to beat MN entirely while posting on this site. I know it may take months more to a complete recovery, as much as one year, but hopefully sooner, I dare not push it this time.

Today makes 5 1/2 weeks...........I am walking as far as 5 miles.......nerve pain keeps diminishing instead of increasing even though I ramp up my activity. I am walking faster and even did the step climber this morning without any pain. Tonight I am wearing "toe stretchers" and doing 100 toe crunches as Dr. Hauser indicated to strenghen the foot and spread the toes for a bit while washing them in blood circulation, the idea being to regenerate the nerve, smaller hopefully...........the swelling has gone down certainly but then again I have not run for 2 months, just walking and treadmill, fot still feels nice and tight like the days before the trauma. So far so good.

I spoke with Dr. Hauser's office quite a while ago, but decided to go the cryosurgery route. If you look back on some of my past posts it will tell you what I've gone through. I will be going for my 2nd cryosurgery the end of this month. I'm also considering going to Dr. H if I don't get the full results from cryo, but God willing I will. Even if I get the full results from the cryo (God I hope so) I think he may be able to strengthen the ligaments in my feet. They have gone through alot. Please let me know how your doing. Keep praying. God Bless, Jessy
Re: Alternative approachDear Jessy,
If you feel guided to do cryo again, I guess you should. I have comtemplated all the posts and have realized the life force in those nerves wants to live very very much, for even when they are cut out, they grow back, so when I think about the 47 years there was no clue of a problem means that nature works perfectly when all is in balance. Cutting out or freezing the nerve will "postpone" the lesson we must learn. For me, to take better care of myself, to stay within the limits of my natural body and to stop the foolish man-pride that makes me compete to extremes and hurt myself. For you, I cannot say what or if there is a lesson to be learned for that is pure arrogance. I do know something inside feels joy that you realized that in addition to the cryo you can STILL benefit DEFINITELY from prolotherapy. A lifetime of wear and tear needs a special push to rebuild tissues, it seems the body is stingy with blood in white tissues and they can go unhealed indefinitely. I am very glad you see the light on this. Dr. Hauser has never overcharged me. I paid the one time $250 evaluation fee and never have again even though I have done other body parts. The foot costs $250 per treatment but his treatments are like 4 with any other prolotherapist. I tried to stay local in Florida and wasted more time and money. Buy plane ticket in advance and get better rates. I have paid $250-350 from Florida. BUT when you're done, the fix lasts many years, its not pain medicine, its a real cure. I have done wrist, neck, left shoulder, knee, left foot (MN). Best wishes on your path, may God light it for you, Designeer
Re: Alternative approachIts 2 days past 6 weeks........I did the stairmaster machine the other day for 25 minutes, its the one I have avoided till now. I don't like the way I feel today. The strain of walking up all those stairs really mashes the foot down on the metarsals. So the nerve got a little bit awakened, not much, but enough to let me know its still there whereas for 6 six weeks I felt it diminishing.
My entire foot is loosing the tightness gained in prolo as I keep walking long distances and now climb steps. I intend to keep up my activity or else what is the point, I am an active person and cannot live anyway else, I need my foot to adapt to the same level my right foot easily complies with. The next 2 weeks will tell all I think?
Re: Alternative approachIts 3 days into week 7
This week I shuffled my feet small distances at jogging speed. What I feel is the 'scabbing' of where the shots induced collagen dumping to be 'pulling on' the new thicker tissue formations connecting the toes and metarsals. Boy it felt good to feel some running, but I'm holding back. That first step onto the floor in the morning lets you know what you did the day before, so far nothing alarming and do not feel any backwards slide in healing progress as I feared last week after the stairclimber machine. Sadly, I lifted too heavy with the military press weights, hurt my right shoulder and left shoulder hurting again from the bicycle accident (hit concrete telephone pole). So I am actually distracted from the foot progress and onto other problems I caused from foolish pride, ignorance or what have you.........

I'm sorry that you are hurting again from an old accident. I do hope that by now your feeling better. How are your feet doing? I went for my second cryo 8 days ago. It seems the nerve in my left foot didn't completely die, so the doc had to freeze it again, & my right foot developed another inflamed nerve, which of course had to be frozen. So here I am playing the waiting game again. I'll keep you posted with my progress. Please let me know how your doing. I am hoping to hear good reports. I'll pray for you. Jessy
Re: Alternative approachDear Jessy,
It seems like the warmest, kindest, deepest people are Christians and that I guess is no accident. You just cannot fault the teachings when it leads to good people like yourself :-) I hope the cryo will work for you. I alternate days now when I do real stop and go jogging for about 2 to 3 miles AND I am not worsening that I can tell, in fact my hardened foot is loosening up a bit and easier to touch on the bottom, pins and needles feelings gone underneath. I am glad to have found a friend and support on here (now if only I can find a job :-) Thank you for your prayers. I send you positive vibes as well, may you be guided to wholeness again.
