I prescribed progesterone 5 months ago sleeping problems high cholesterol To date it has not helped eir. A couple of things I thinking it may be doing is causing me headaches, inability to loose weight. I have been dieting months, also doing exercises yoga, aerobics etc, have not lost a pound. week I got a breast infection, I am prone to cysts in my breasts. I am thinking about stopping progesterone, do think I could just quit taking it cold turkey? It hasn't even stopped hot flashes. Tks.

Progesterone can give headaches; you can stop it without having to taper it off. Progesterone really is not necessarily good for cholesterol, in fact, it may make cholesterol worse.

I too take progesterone (for about 1 1/2 years now) and had all kinds of aches and such as well as bloating and weight gain. My HRT in it's entirety (can't say if it's the progesterone, estrogen or testosterone), has made me feel so much better. I am more active, more concentrated and happier since being on HRT. I did try cutting back on the progesterone due to the bloating and weight gain. Lost 9 pounds pretty rapidly, however, felt horrible. I was back to confusion, lack of focus & concentration etc. Happily traded the pounds back for a clear and happy mind.
