loestrin

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

I am 47, don't smoke, don't drink w/no family history of osteoporosis or heart disease. I have been on loestrin a couple years & my new dr told me I'm too old to continue on it & I should go on hormone replacement rapy. only thing I'm really concerned w/is having terribly irregular periods again. Should I really discontinue pill? Am I really at a tremendous risk? Also - is HRT less risk?

Jane, it is appropiate to continue Loestrin until menopause which usually occurs at age 51. Changing to ERT is another alternative , both would protect against osteoporosis.

I suggest you get off Loestrin asap. studies have found combining 2 hormones greatly increases chances of getting breast cancer. I'm one of those. i was on Loestrin hrt for 22 months and discovered my tumor.
look to using a 1 hormone hrt!
