Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

Is re a book or website on Estrogen Replacement rapy women who have undergone surgery ovarian cancer (total hysterectomyat age 47). Who is most knowledgable about ERT? How does one determine wher to take estrogen or not? If re no hot flashes or typical symptoms to disturb ones life, or if y minor (some insomnia), re is no family history of ovarian or breast cancers? Is it necessary or more helpful than not to go on Premarin just because of surgical loss of estrogen? Most of I have read doesn't apply to ERT after ovarian cancer Thanks r assistance response.

The primary reason to go on ERT is its protection on bone and heart disease. These can be evaluated by a bone density test and cardiac lipid blood profile . If normal it may be worthy to hold off on ERT for the time being . I know of no particular contraindication to ERT in your case but I surely would speak to your Gyn oncologist.

Get the book The Wisdom of Menopause by Dr. Christiane Northrup. She gives lots of great advice and also lots of resurces to find out other information.
