could my sperm be the problem after all these yearsmy wife and I have failed another IVF cycle. This time with an egg donor.
my wife and I have been trying for a little over 10 years now. 4 clinics and each one diagnoses us as an unknown cause for our infertility. we have been pregnant several times but have never been able to achieve a live birth. because we are now over 40, our current clinic pushed us towards egg donation since this gave us the greatest probability for success. throughout our entire fertility quest my wife has always been lead to believe that the problem is most likely related to the quality of her eggs since we do not seem to have any problems successfully fertilizing her eggs with my sperm. however, as mentioned, in our latest attempt we used an egg donor and ended up with a big disappointment since, although 10 were fertilized with my sperm, only one reached blast and it obviously did not develop further once transferred. our clinic is highly doubtful it could be related to my sperm. their advice is to just try again with another egg donor (and, if we wish, use part donor sperm along with my sperm) can anyone point me to some good information on sperm that seems to fertilize but someone is not able to achieve a live birth ?
