dyspareunia - is this exam normal?

I went to see a doctor about dyspareunia recently. She said there is nothing physically wrong with me but i am very small. She went on to produce a box of vaginal dilators, use them on me and got me to show her how I would use them... is that not a bit strange. I was mortified. felt a bit violated.
