ED after injury- temporary?!

Post a new topicby cookieyee on Sat Jun 21, 2008 6:15 pm

Help!!!
I have had an injury and I don't know that to do, does anyone have any experience with this?

Here are the details:
1 month ago I fell about four feet onto my balls. Within the next week I developed swelling and pain on my perenium but was able to have sex and maintain an erection. Then, a week later, I was unable to get erect. A few days after this my penis became swollen and discolored. After icing and about a week, the swelling went down and my penis looks normal now. However it twitches often throughout the day and especially when I am aroused. I can still ejaculate but I cannot achieve an erection.

What is happening? Will it heal with time or does it need specific treatment? What sorts of problems could it be? I plan to see a doctor but I cannot really afford to so I am wondering if this is a common symptom of anything and if I might need surgery. Or if this will never improve?! If anyone has heard of anything like this- please let me know Thanks

Paul

I'm not a doctor, but I imagine that his advice would be to give it time to recover. That might mean a year or two. Surgery should be a last resort.

I have had prostate surgery, and that means severe trauma to the nerves that control erections. Like you, I can orgasm without erection -- very strange at first. In some cases, recovery is quite quick, a matter of days or weeks. In other cases it can take years, if ever.

If your trauma has indeed damaged the nerves, there are treatments that will give you your erections back, while you regain your natural function. Doctors generally recommend these treatments as good for rehabilitation -- and they can be fun too!
